I had a lot of fun being a part of the David Cup competition - a friendly Big Year competition around the Cayuga Lake Basin in NY and thought it would be fun to host a similar event here in Cape May. A lot of people look for birds around the Cape Island area which includes Cape May , West Cape May, and Cape May Point (all areas south of the 'canal'). This is also a fun way to maintain some interesting records on a local level, and will hopefully encourage more consistent coverage of the area. I've also decided to maintain this information for all of Cape May County to encourage people who bird Cape May County more regularly than Cape Island.
